7 Unique Spanish Words of Endearment for Your Argentine Valentine

Dubbed movies have taught us words of endearment in Spanish like “cariño” and “cielito”. However, each Hispanic country seems to have its own set of preferred terms of endearment.

Forget about “cariño,” we do not say that in Argentina! You may also trash pastelito, cielito, bebé, and guapo/a because those are not terms of endearment we use in Argentina.

Picking an Argentinian Term of Endearment

Pick a more “Argentinian” word of endearment for your Argentine Valentine. Choose one of the following common options, or be creative and make up one just for you and your special someone:

  • Mi amor. (My love.)
  • Mi vida. (My life.)
  • Bombón. (Sweet.)
  • Gordo/a (derivatives: gordito/a, gordi, gor). (Chubby.)
  • Bonito/a. (Lovely.)
  • Lindo/a. (Pretty, handsome.)
  • Hermoso/a. (Beautiful.)

Giving a Compliment

Argentinians love giving and receiving compliments. Giving a compliment is a great way to cheer someone up, break the ice when going on a date or simply spreading positivity.

Here’s a great tip when giving compliments to your Argentine Valentine: give the compliment while mentioning their term of endearment. Find examples of compliments below:

  • Qué lindos ojos que tenés, mi amor. (You have beautiful eyes.)
  • Me encanta tu sonrisa, mi vida. (I love your smile.)
  • Me gustás mucho, bombón. (I like you very much.)
  • Me volvés loco, bonita. (You drive me crazy (in love).)
  • Te ves hermoso, gor. (You look beautiful.)
  • Estás re fachero/linda. (You look very handsome/pretty.)
